Erebuni Yerevan festival is one of the most popular and the most favourite festivals in Armenia. The festival is held to celebrate the birthday of the oldest city of Armenia – the capital of Armenia Yerevan. Yerevan is older than Rome and this year it is going to celebrate its 2800th birthday!

The first celebration of Erebuni Yerevan was in October 1968, when Yerevan was celebrating its 2750th anniversary. The most interesting part of this celebration were the stamps “Erebuni” and “David of Sasun”, colourful souvenirs dedicated to this event, greeting cards “Yerevan is 2750” and so on.

This year, in 2018, Erebuni Yerevan is going to celebrate the 2800th anniversary! The city is going to be full of guests as the celebration is going to be held at the highest level – thanks to the new government!
Erebuni Yerevan 2018 dates
At first Erebuni, Yerevan celebration was meant to be held on September 29-30, but then it was decided earlier, to celebrate it on October 20-21. The decision was made at the August 30 meeting of the Armenian government.
Erebuni Yerevan 2018: the reason for the date changes
The date was changed due to the preparations for the Francophonie summit to be held in Yerevan on October 7-12, as well as the elections of Yerevan Council of Elders on September 23.
“It is proposed to hold festivals on October 20-21, to properly organize them,” said RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan.
