Where Can You Work While on Holiday? Best Co-Working Spaces in Cyprus

Cyprus is not only a great place to have rest but to work as well. If you are considering taking a month off from your work in town and want to move to a place with beautiful landscapes and beaches, Cyprus is one of the options. This blog will explore Cyprus co-working spaces to see if it’s a good fit for a remote worker.

Cyprus is ranked 35th out of 180 countries in the Ge Work Index 20203. The Index discovers the best countries to accommodate remote employees. The country’s Digital Nomad Visa program was launched to attract remote workers in 2021. First, it granted 100 visas, but the number is increasing.

Cyprus has been recently attracting Armenian tourists. The reason is there are more direct flights to the country and, of course, beautiful beaches for perfect summer vacations. If you are not a digital nomad, but are, for example, on a two-week visit to Cyprus, you can pick one of the co-working spaces. There are different options in various cities from Limassol to Nicosia.

How to Reach Cyprus from Armenia?

Reaching Cyprus from Armenia is convenient with several flight options available. The main route is from Yerevan’s Zvartnots to Larnaca. Airlines such as Wizz Air and FlyOne offer regular flights in addition to charter flights by Aegean Airlines in summer.

A big plus of flying to Cyprus is it’s very close with the flight duration making around 2.5 hours. Ticket prices vary depending on the season, airline, and how far in advance you book. In summer the rates predictably rise due to high demand. For example, the ticket from Yerevan to Larnaca for late June can start from $140.

In any case, with the variety of prices and airlines, it’s easy to get confused. The best option here is to reach out to a reliable travel agency. Levon Travel professionals will get your tickets and accommodation arranged and will take care of all the details that you may not be aware of.

Digital Nomad Visas in Cyprus

In October 2021 Cyprus gave the green light to the Digital Nomad Visa Scheme. So, what’s the buzz about this visa? The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa lets non-EU nationals live and work remotely from this sunny Mediterranean country.

This visa is perfect for folks who can work remotely but can prove a stable monthly net income of at least €3,500 after taxes. Once obtained, a worker can live in Cyprus for a year, with the option to renew for two more. Plus, the family can join enjoying the same residency period. However, the digital nomads can’t work or do any business in Cyprus. When staying over 183 a year, the remote worker becomes a Cyprus tax resident.

To get this status, the applicant should enter Cyprus on a tourist visa and submit a residence permit application at the Civil Registry and Migration Department in Nicosia within three months. You’ll need to provide proof of income and employment details. Of course, biometric data is also needed. If approved, you get a one-year residence permit.

However, Cyprus’s digital nomad visa has drawbacks. It ranks poorly among European countries for digital nomads. After a six-month tax-free period, the tax rate is high (20-35%). The minimum income requirement is €3,500, and internet speeds are among the slowest in Europe.
