ITINERARY (08 DAYS / 07 NIGHTS)


DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN YEREVAN
Arrival in Yerevan. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation. Use you free time for visiting the Vernissage Market in the City Centre - an arts and crafts open-air bazaar which opens only at weekends. You will find here different souvenirs, pictures, sculptures, traditional carpets and rugs and so on. Overnight in Yerevan.
DAY 02: YEREVAN CITY TOUR

Yerevan is one of the most ancient cities in the world founded in 782 BC. It’s 29 years older than Rome. The founder of Yerevan was the Urartian King Argishti I who established the fortress of Erebuni on the southern part of nowadays Yerevan. Now Yerevan is a vibrant and modern European city with a specific accent of unique geography and culture.
During this tour we'll visit the main highlights of Yerevan as well as the most important museums.

Armenian Genocide Memorial and museum:
The memorial-complex to the victims of the Armenian genocide towers over Tsitsernakaberd hill. At the center of the monument there is the Memorial Sepulcher with eternal flame and twelve, tall basalt slabs leaning over the flame. As a part of the Monument the arrow-shaped 44 meters high granite stele symbolizes the spiritual rebirth and bold spirit of the Armenian people.
Street tour including: Republic Square, Yerevan State University, Victory Bridge, Tsitsernakaberd (1915 Genocide Memorial), Sports & Concerts complex, Kiev Bridge, Parliament, Palace of President, Academy of Sciences, Opera house.
Matenadaran (Depository and Museum of Ancient Manuscripts):
On the northern part of Mashtots avenue there is Matenadaran (a book depository), one of the world's most ancient libraries. Its collections comprise ancient Armenian books and miniature paintings that have gained world-wide fame. Among its unique treasures are the works of ancient classical authors and rare manuscripts (also Arabian manuscripts) that have come to our days only in the Armenian translation. Several monuments to the outstanding Armenian cultural figures are located in the courtyard of Matenadaran.

DAY 03: YEREVAN –ECHMIADZIN – VERNISSAGE – YEREVAN

Heritage Sites which are "must see" places. Today you visit the religious center of Armenia – Echmiadzin which is the "Vatican" city of Armenia with the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church where the Supreme Patriarch (Catholicos) of All Armenians resides. Armenia is the first Christian country in the world since 301A.D. and the world's oldest official Christian church is to be found in Echmiadzin - the Mother Cathedral of Echmiadzin. In the cathedral you can attend live the liturgy. Continue to St. Hripsime church (7th century), a true masterpiece of early medieval Armenian architecture. On the way back to Yerevan visit the Ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral - the place of “celestial angels”. The remnants of Zvartnots, even in ruins, are a majestic sight. Return to Yerevan.

DAY 04: YEREVAN – LAKE SEVAN – TSAKHADZOR

We’ll have an unforgettable tour around the Lake Sevan and visit the Sevanavank monastery:
Sevan is the world’s second largest high altitude lake at 1900m above sea level. Akhtamar peninsula is most popular destination to enjoy the breath-taking view on Sevan Lake, make pics for sweet memories and visit with the ancient Sevanavank Monastery (IX century), which has played a crucial role in Armenian history, founded in 874 AD. The monastery was strict as it was mainly intended for those monks from Echmiadzin who had sinned.
Continue to Tsakhkadzor. Tsakhkadzoris a popular ski resort in Kotayk region of Armenia. It is located on the eastern slope of Mt. Teghenis, 1840m high above sea level. By the way, it is only 10m below from the highest 4 famous ski resorts of Courchevel and 60km or 40 min. drive from the capital of Armenia - Yerevan.Visit of Kecharis Monastery:
The monastery of Kecharis located in the northwestern part of Tsakhkadzor is considered to be “gorge of flowers”. It was founded by descendant of Kamsarakan, Pahlavuni Gregory Magistros. In 1033 he ordered to build Tsakhkadzor Temple to the name of St. Gregory the Illuminator. Overnight in Tsakhkadzor.
DAY 05 and 06: 2 LEISURE DAYS IN TSAKHKADZOR

Tsakhkadzor is specific with its fascinating ski runs, respectable hotels and chic restaurants. Here you can relax, taste good cuisine, either to enjoy your evening time.Today Tsaghkadzor is considered to be Armenia’s premier ski resort town. It is famous for its winter sport activities and is a real paradise for skiers and mountaineers from Armenia and all over the world.
One of the major entertainments inTsakhkadzor is the ride on the ropeway. It will cost around $4 for one stop. The ropeway consists of four levels, all equipped with Austrian seat elevators. The ascend to the top of Mt. Teghenis will last some 40 minutes. In fine weather you can admire the beauty of Mt. Ararat and the pearl of Armenia-Lake Sevan from the top of Teghenis.Overnight in Tsakhkadzor.
DAY 07: TSAKHADZOR – GEGHARD CAVE MONASTERY –GARNI PAGAN TEMPLE - YEREVAN

A quiet mountain road leads high above the city, offering a glimpse into Earth's ancient history.
Visit of Geghard Cave Monastery carved out of a huge monolithic rock.
Geghard is an incredible ancient Armenian monastery, partly carved out of a mountain. It is said that the Holy Lance that pierced the body of Christ was kept here. The architectural forms and the decoration of Geghard's rock premises show that Armenian builders could not only create superb works of architecture out of stone, but also hew them in solid rock. It is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Proceeding to the Garni pagan temple:
Temple of the Sun God Mithra dating back to 77A.D. Being in an amazing natural setting, it was the summer residence of the Armenian kings. The complex comprises also royal palace ruins, Roman Baths with a well preserved mosaic. The 15-color natural stone-made mosaic illustrates various sea images: deities, mermaids, fish-centaurs (a man with a body of a horse and a limb of a fish), a fisher, etc.

The preparation, meaning and appearance of traditional bread as an expression of culture in Armenia has been inscribed in UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Return to Yerevan. On the way back to Yerevan we stop at Armenian poet Charent's Arch:
The breathtaking lookout point of the biblical Mount Ararat (known from the Bible as the landing spot of Noah's Ark after the Big flood).
Overnight in Yerevan.
DAY 08: Transfer to Airport. Departure
Check-out. Transfer from hotel to the airport. Departure.
